Youth Self Determination

What is it?
Youth Self Determination is a class that teaches adolescents with disabilities to make decisions for themselves, make their wants and needs known to others, learn about their rights and responsibilities as members of a community, how to communicate appropriately and effectively, how to be assertive, how to set goals, and how to take ownership of the decision-making process concerning the I.E.P.
Who?
Youth Self Determination is a class for adolescents (Jr. /Sr. High youth) with disabilities.
Where?
Sorry, This program is not being provided at this time. Please check back and tell us if you're interested in having this course taught again in the future.
What's involved?
There are discussions, learning activities, follow-up activities, and skits and role-playing scenarios using the Topics of the Self Determination Units.
Additionally, some discussions, skits, and role-playing scenarios will be from the participant's suggestions and or experiences.

This program is designed to enrich the lives of adolescents with disabilities You will have self-determination , more self-confidence and more independence with improved self-esteem.
Self-determination is one of the first steps in being successful in school and community living.
Ask your school if you can receive credit for taking this course.
